I’ve always had a passion for helping people heal; that’s why I became a Physical Therapist. The transition from graduate school to working full time wasn’t easy. Lots of stress meant I wasn’t taking care of myself. I used to get a lot of headaches. Several times a week I was popping ibuprofen like it was my favorite candy and even more around my time of the month. My husband has severe pet allergies. My dad even made a joke in his speech at our wedding about the first time they met and how puffy and watery my husband’s eyes were. But he doesn’t tolerate medication well. I was seeing patients in my clinic with numerous diagnoses, poor immune function, young and old. Many would say "isn't there something else?" All this set me searching for other options outside of conventional medicine. Just as I was learning about a holistic approach and natural remedies...
I had a miscarriage. This was the turning point. I knew I needed to do something different. I needed to be healthier and make some changes to support a new life.
As I was healing and researching what to do to prepare for future pregnancy, everything I found talked about detoxing. A friend had recently introduced me to a new way of thinking about wellness but it was time to dive deep and get serious.
Now I have three beautiful children. My pregnancies have been uncomplicated and supported by natural remedies. My husband has a non-pharmaceutical solution for his allergies he uses on a regular basis. I rarely get headaches and when I do, I have a solution that isn’t ibuprofen to turn to. We’ve ditched the toxins in our home for cleaning, laundry, personal care, emotional support, baby & kids and switched to cleaner, less toxic options.
Now we're all about natural and simplistic living. Food as medicine. Exercise as medicine. All of this has combined with my pregnancy/postpartum physical therapy specialty and passion for supporting women and families to prepare for conception, pregnancy and motherhood, as naturally as possible. Come learn with me in my courses how to support your body from within to grow and welcome new life. How to Labor like a Rockstar (childbirth preparation course) and coming soon: Recover like a Rockstar (postpartum course).
Helping mamas recover from birth in my PT clinic is so rewarding, but I started thinking...what if I could help prevent some of the things I was treating, from happening in the first place! In my course I teach coping mechanisms, labor positions, pushing positions all to make it more comfortable and prevent tearing.
Come learn how to Labor like a Rockstar with me!
